"Safe Haven" was written in 2013 for the UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble, which at the time had seven members. In 2014 Dr. Eric Richards asked me to arrange it for big band, with the idea that he would further orchestrate my arrangement for the UNL Jazz Orchestra 2.0, an ensemble that included a string quartet. As part of their April 4, 2017 concert in Westbrook Recital Hall, the Glenn Korff School of Music's Faculty Jazz Ensemble at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln performed "Farther Reaches" by John Moulder. Faculty Jazz Ensemble Music Director Tom Larson says, "Farther Reaches is the title cut to Chicago guitarist John Moulder's latest album."
